Our Mission

At Sue's Swim School, we guarantee results.  No matter what your age or level of expertise, we have a program of instruction tailored to your needs.  We work with the youngest beginners to the most experienced adults.  All in a structured sequence of lessons designed to help you or your child become a proficient swimmer at a pace matched to your ability and the swimmers' willingness to learn. 

We also include instruction in water safety, combining the development of proper swimming techniques with an approach that assures many years of safe enjoyment of the water.

About Us

Sue Pantos has been teaching and coaching at junior high, high school, and college levels since 1971.  However, even before  beginning a full-time career in physical education, Sue directed and taught swim lessons at a community pool in Indiana for twelve summers, from 1967 to 1979.  After moving to California, Sue traveled to home pools in Orinda, Lafayette, and Moraga for four summers.  Since 1985, she has been sole owner and head instructor at Sue's Swim School in Alamo.  Sue was awarded the "Swim Teacher of the Year" by the National Swim School Association in 1992.  She has a master's degree in physical education from Purdue University, certifications in CPR, First Aid, and WSI (Water Safety Instructor), and is also certified through the National Swim School Association.

Sue's Swim School is proud of it's excellent staff of instructors.  Each instructor is individually trained by Sue, and some instructors are certified teachers.  All of the instructors are college aged or older, and most have been with Sue's Swim School for several seasons.  Some of the instructors are parents themselves, and all of the staff enjoy working with children.  To view photos of our instructors, please click here.

The best way to contact Sue's Swim School to obtain information, or to schedule lessons, is by phone (925-837-2428).  We do not always have someone answering the phone, so please follow the directions given on the answering machine and leave us your name, phone numbers (both home and work), and a short message in the appropriate mailbox.  Your phone call will be returned as soon as possible.  The phone is not answered in the off season (Oct 1st-Feb 15th).  We start answering the phone again on Feb. 15th and start working on the scheduling in March.
